The key to becoming successful in life is to stay motivated. Sometimes this can be difficult since life tends to throw curve balls. Just when you think everything is going your way, you get blind-sided by a complication that slows you down or forces you to change directions. The same goes for just feeling uninspired or unconfident. You need to learn how to stay confident and motivated after life throws you a curve ball. You need to live your life with some drive to get through those moments. Now you can experience a full life and embrace it. Here are some tips on how to stay confident and motivated that might help you along this journey called life.


Set Goals that Are Realistic


Just because your life gets turned upside down does not mean you cannot take control and start setting realistic goals to get back on track. In fact, setting goals for yourself is the best way to start finding balance in life again and regaining your confidence. After you meet realistic goals you will find that the next goal becomes easier to reach. Your attitude changes and you become more positive about the future. You can start by making a daily list of goals that can be completed reasonably. Mark off each task as you complete it to accomplish a goal. Keep these lists visible so you have a constant reminder. Start off easy and work your way up so you don’t exhaust your efforts.


Embrace Positive People


When you are at a low point in your life, it is important to be surrounded by people that are positive. The more positivity you are around, the more likely you are to make better choices. They can act as a type of support group too so you are uplifted by people that care. Positive people tend to encourage others to work hard to reach their goals, and uplift them so they learn how to stay confident and motivated


Create a Positive Mental Image


When you picture yourself in a positive way, you can easily motivate yourself to take the actions needed to reach what you envision. Visualize goals that you want to accomplish, paint a clear picture of them in your mind. This can include places you want to visit, and where you want to be in a year or something you want to create for yourself or for your family. To make a mental image clearer, you can also cut pictures out that resemble your goals. This can be any image from pictures of clothes you want to be able to fit into, a place you want to visit, a home you want to purchase or even pictures of your dream job. You can paste them on poster board and hang it somewhere that will serve as a great visual reminder.


Remember! Failure is a step forward. If you fail, you are one step closer to achieving your goal. The next time you try, you have a better idea of why you failed and what not to do or what to do. Whether you go shopping and look at the clothes you could be wearing, look at travel blogs to see the people and places you could be visiting or see that shiny brass plate with your name on the corner office door, know you can do it and keep it in mind every moment.


  1. List what you will gain: You can see it within reach, now list what you will gain by reaching your goals. Whether it’s looking stunning, speaking a new language in your travels or buying that Mercedes you’ve been eyeing since you were 18, list everything you will get once you meet your goals.


  1. List the steps you need to succeed: Nothing comes together as easily as when you have a well thought out plan. Make a list of the steps you need to achieve your goals and follow them religiously. More importantly be prepared to adapt when things go as planned and be prepared to adapt and improve to carry on.


  1. Enlist a team of cheerleaders: Share your goals with someone who will help you stay positive. Much like AA has partners to provide a life line in case of temptation to lapse, use these people as your saviors when doubt, discouragement and the fear of failure threaten to defeat you.


  1. Review and mark your progress: Everyday review your goals, check off your progress and revisit what you will gain. When this doesn’t work look to your cheer leaders to help you stay focused and always remember no one should be pushing you on with more confidence or conviction than yourself.
